This page is dedicated to all of the 3DS emulators out there.   It should not be mistaken with an emulator that allows you to play Nintendo 3DS games on your PC, because that is not what I mean.  These 3DS emulators are for classic game systems and computers, that you can load and run on your 3DS or 3DS XL system and play old classic games on your current 3DS system.

Everything from Gameboy Color and NES games, right to Apple II games and Neo Geo emulators for the Nintendo 3DS system are available to you once you have a 3DS flashcart.  It's the flashcard that makes it all possible, as you need that in order to run the retro emulators on your 3DS and 3DS XL system.

Emulators have been out for a long time.  Even back in the days of the Apple II and the Commodore Amiga systems, you could play C64 games or run other computer software with emulators and sometimes add ons in the form of hardware.  But it has never been really easy to play old classic systems on your computer.  You often had to update video card drivers, find controllers that were actually supported and would work and do a whole lot of setup.

That is where emulators on the 3DS differ.  The 3DS has everything you need to start playing.  It has amazing screens, controllers built right in, and of course, unlike computers that can have parts from a variety of manufacturers - every single 3DS is exactly the same.  This alone makes it very easy to make emulators that take full advantage of the hardware.

If you were a gamer in the 1990's, then no doubt you had heard of the Neo Geo game system.  It was originally and MVS / Arcade system that let Arcade owners have 2-4 games in a single cabinet, and swap out game cartridges when games got stale.  Then they made the decision to release a home version, called the AES system.  The Neo Geo AES brought home the true arcade experience and as a gamer, you got to play exactly the same games at home - as you would have at the arcade.  The games were not ports - they were exactly the same game just in a different cartridge, one that was made for home consoles.

It featured games like Metal Slug, Nam 1975, Super Baseball 2020, Puzzle Bobble and countless other arcade classics.  And if you were lucky enough to have an AES home system, you could play all of these amazing Neo Geo games at home.

NeoDS brings the Neo Geo experience to your Nintendo 3DS system.  The Neo DS emulator allows you to play all of your favorite Neo Geo Games on your 3DS or 3DS XL system.

When it comes to retro gaming, there is probably no other home console system that has as many fans as the NES or Nintendo Entertainment System.  In Japan is was called the Famicom (which stood for family computer).  The technology wasn't there back then, to make a portable version of the NES.  But thanks to modern game systems like the nintendo DS, DSi and namely the Nintendo 3DS you can now use emulators to play those old school NES games right on your current generation Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL or 2DS systems.

And let me tell you, there is nothing quite like taking your favorite NES games with you on the go, right on your 3DS system.  The 3DS is perfectly suited for retro gaming.  The resolution of the top 3DS screen, coupled with the size, is just perfect to play the best NES games in a hand held fashion.

Nes DS is free of course, so you won't have to shell out any money for it.  It's a freeware piece of software that runs on any Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS Lite, Nintendo DSi and DSi XL as well as the Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL and Nintendo 2DS systems.   You only need an R4 3DS (or similar) 3ds flashcart, and the NesDS emulator and you're all set!

All of the games I have tried work perfectly.  Not a stutter or a slow down can be found - and that is pretty amazing!  Full sound, excellent rendering of the video, and the built in controllers on the 3DS make using this emulator and playing your favorite classics not only easy, but extremely enjoyable too!
